A reminder of how damaging pliers can be when winding clocks with them

This pretty dial was spoiled for want of a key. Someone had seen fit to try and wind it with pliers.  I found a local gentleman doing art restoration to accept the challenge of repairing this. The result was well within expectations. The rebuilding and colour matching of the replacement material was superbly done. References to his services will be gladly forwarded on request.

Needless to say, don't recommend that anyone should wind their clocks without the proper key. The keys are much cheaper than the repairs to fix the damage.
