This small pinion was broken in an automatic wind German wrist watch manufactured sometime in the late sixties. The piece in question was part of the automatic winding mechanism.

I'd not have taken on this repair but it ended up being a bit of a challenge and I had too hard a time resisting.

Making pivot drills is a well established technique in the horological world but a bit dated. I had never mastered the skill of making these things and now I can say that it isn't as hard as it looks.. but everything is that way once you know how I think.
